Otto B. de Kat : ウィキペディア英語版 | Otto B. de Kat Otto B. De Kat (7 June 1907 – 30 April 1995), was a Dutch painter and art critic. == Biography == He was born in Dordrecht, but received his training in Haarlem as a pupil of Henri Frédéric Boot and Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita.〔(Otto B. De Kat ) in the RKD〕 He married the poetess Maria Jannetta (‘Hans’) van Zijl in 1930. After a trip to France he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae where he also won a medal in 1969.〔 He settled with his wife in Brussels, but spent the war years in Overveen. After the war, he and Kees Verwey founded the Hollandse Aquarellistenkring and De kat remained its chairman until after 1965. He moved to Bloemendaal and became a good friend of Godfried Bomans, helping him found the Teisterbant club. In February 1950 he drew a sketch of the new club hall that appeared in the Haarlems Dagblad article that announced the start of the club and named him as its secretary.〔''Teisterbant Gesticht: Honderdtachtig Haarlemmers gaan naar de kelder'', article in Haarlems Dagblad 8 February 1950〕〔(Teisterbant ) on Godfried Bomans website〕 He was art critic for the Haarlems Dagblad in the years 1951-1955.〔 After 1955 he became a teacher at the Rijksakademie. He died in Laren, at the age of 88.
